Xinghao Liang (b. 1999, Beihai) lives and works in London. Working across installation, constructed environments, objects, and painting, his practice approaches space and negative space not merely as a background for display, but as an active, site-specific framework of conceptual research.
Born at the turn of the century, Liang utilizes the friction between intense societal acceleration and the sudden stagnation of the 2020s as his central conceptual engine. Informed by Mark Fisher’s concept of hauntology, Liang zeroes in on disused Brutalist urban spectacles—architectural monuments that linger as haunts of "lost futures" and unfulfilled modern ambitions. He regards architecture not as inert physical structure, but as a material envelope that conditions, constricts, and molds human living space. Although human figures are explicitly absent from his works, the environments—heavily saturated with mundane objects and the remnants of techno-accelerationist logic—serve as haunting proxies, evoking the spectral presence of contemporary human alienation.
To dismantle this compressed existential state, Liang draws upon Marc Augé’s critique of the "non-place," developing a spatial methodology of structural inversion and contextual displacement. He intervenes in transitional, functional zones: systematically disrupting normative architectural hierarchies by installing ceiling lighting grids onto the floor, or encapsulating a gallery staircase to convert a transitional "non-place" into a monolithic, cinema-like enclosure. By reconfiguring the spatial logic, Liang forces a sensory and perceptual inversion upon the viewer, causing their bodily spatial awareness to tilt, hesitate, and confront the eerie strangeness of displaced familiarities.
Recently, Liang has focused on "Suspended Time and Perceptual Inversion" as his primary entry point, undertaking site-specific interventions that engage directly with architectural histories and obsolete spatial remnants. By mapping the negative space within these spectacles and the anxieties embedded within built environments, Liang anchors the evidence of human isolation at the volatile intersection of contemporary speed and stagnation.

出生于世纪交替的历史节点，梁星昊将过去数十年的急促加速与 2020 年代骤然显现的失速停滞，转化为其创作的核心概念引擎。他将研究聚焦于那些曾经象征城市奇观、如今却被废弃的宏伟建筑遗迹以及“落后”的生活用品——这些结构承载着“已然失落的未来”之幽灵，构成了他创作语言的核心形态。梁星昊将建筑视为一种塑造与挤压人类生活的材料外壳。在他构建的场域中，“人”虽然始终不在场，但空间中充斥的日常物件与加速主义残留，无一不在印证着当代主体的精神异化与存在的幽灵性痕迹。
为了解构并显影这种被挤压的生存状态，梁星昊建立了一套颠倒与重置（Inversion and Displacement）的空间方法论。他通过颠倒日常的建筑秩序——如将天花板的照明系统铺设于地面，倒置肉眼与投影机的观看关系，或将美术馆的过渡性楼梯包裹重构为具有封闭感的沉浸式影院——打破既定的参观动线与空间功能。当物理空间被系统性地重置，观众在场域内的身体感知与时空参照也随之被强制倒置，迫使身体重新面对熟悉语境剥离后的异化感。
近期，梁星昊将“悬置的时间与倒置的感知”作为核心研究切口，在具体美术馆与历史遗存场景中展开空间干预。他通过捕捉物体之间的负空间、历史残余与空间焦虑，试图在后工业加速与停滞的夹缝中，为当代人被挤压的生存状态提供一份具象的物质明证。
