Gathering Medicine, a work completed with the 2020 series of Seeing and Hearing, depicts the sense of flight from the current epidemic internet rumours and monopoly of information. The thread of history also runs through the painting: the forest represents the Australian hill fires that were occurring at the same time. The title of Medicine and the pigeons in the work are a humorous satire on a rumour that eating pigeon meat would cure pneumonia during the epidemic.
